Obituary for William Vern Miller

William Vern Miller, 90, of Muscoda, died Monday, February 3, 2020 at Riverdale Healthcare. He was born on January 31, 1930 the son of James Vernon and Elsie M. (Rosenau) Miller. He graduated from Muscoda High School in 1948, that December he joined the US Navy. After his honorable discharge he worked with his brother-in-law in the Boscobel Ford Garage until he met Ruth Marie Starkey, whom he married in November of 1952. The couple started farming in Eagle Township.

To this marriage was born 8 children: Jeanne (Mike) Schucht, Ellen (Pat) Hines, David (partner Karen Dieter) Miller, Barbara Hines (Steve Johnston), Kathy (Keith) Standorf, Steven Miller, Nancy (Andy) Collins, and Jeffrey Miller.

Bill’s first wife died in 1973. In August of 1974 he married Caryl (Manning) Bird, who had four children: Gary (Eva) Bird, Kathy (Dale) Riddiough, Doug Bird, and Steve (Sherri) Bird.

Bill is also survived by his brother Donald (Lorraine) Miller, brother-in-law George D. (Diane) Manning.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Reginald and Keith, sister Joyce Glynn, step-son Steve Bird, granddaughter Heather, grandson Jason, and great-granddaughter Madison.

A private family graveside was held at the Muscoda Cemetery. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
