Obituary for Wilburt 'Bill' Edward Schmudde
Wilburt Edward “Bill” Schmudde, age 89, of Richland Center, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 25, 2018, at Schmitt Woodland Hills.
He was born on March 12, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, son of Arthur and Anna Schmudde. Bill was united in marriage with Gloria Miski. The two of them were soulmates who loved spending time together fishing and bird watching. When Gloria passed away in 1995, he was heartbroken. He loved to go out for breakfast with friends and family, he enjoyed shopping, spending time with his family and he had a real love for children. Bill’s grandchildren and great grandchildren often referred to him as “Papa the Great.” He was great at fixing things and loved to work with tools. He was a dedicated employee of the Wrigley’s Gum Company in Chicago, Illinois for 28 years as the head tool and die maker. Bill served three years in the Army, during the Korean War.
Survivors include his children Mark (Jan) Schmudde of Indianapolis, Indiana: Steve (Joyce) Schmudde of Maquoketa, Iowa; Julie (Bill) DePatie of Oswego, Illinois: his grandchildren Stacey (Randy) Felton of Richland Center, WI: Heather (Erik) Donner of Hanover Park, Illinois: Sarah (Nick) Baker of Indianapolis, Indiana: Steven (Angie) Schmudde of Mason City, Iowa: Stephanie (Tyler) Caldwell of Gilbert, Arizona: Elizabeth DePatie of Oswego, Illinois: Brandon (Lexi) DePatie of Oswego, Illinois: Holly DePatie of Oswego, Illinois and 8 great grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Gloria: his daughter Deborah “Deb” (Allen) Coy of Richland Center, Wisconsin: his grandchildren Tanisha Schmudde and Nathan Schmudde; his parents and all his siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel. Burial with Military Graveside Rites will follow in the Richland Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Saturday, December 1, from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at 2:00 PM. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
