Obituary for Richard Arlyn Chitwood

Richard ‘Dick’ Arlyn Chitwood, 93 of Richland Center went to his eternal home on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Schmitt Woodland Hills, with his loving wife Ruby by his side. He is rejoicing in joining his son Eddie in the eternal kingdom. He was born in Eagle Township on October 25, 1925 to Arthur and Bessie (Smith) Chitwood. Richard joined 9 siblings and they were all close family until their deaths. Richard and his beloved Ruby Ann Hartwick were united in marriage on December 21, 1943. They were ‘partners’ for life and they celebrated 75 years together in 2018. Richard worked on farms, Jones Service Center, salesman for Economy Jobbing for over 30 years, and finished his career with Allen Bradley for 17 years. He loved to travel, play Euchre, and spending time with family and friends were his joy in life.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Ruby;
Children: Sharon (Timothy) Grapengieser,
Terry (Dorothy) Chitwood,
Shirley (David) Marshall;
Daughter-in-law: Pamela Chitwood;
9 grandchildren;
12 great-grandchildren;
5 great-great-grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved son Eddie, parents and his 9 siblings: Lola (Raymond) Hubanks, Harriet (Lloyd) Lewis, Nina (Louis) Beebe, Harley, Jim, Charles, Quentin, Clem, and Ralph.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 12:00 PM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in the Richland Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 28 at the Pratt Memorial Chapel from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 12:00 PM. The family suggests memorials in Richard's name be directed to Schmitt Woodland Hills or St. John's Lutheran Church. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
