Jerry Steinmetz

Jerry Steinmetz, 67, of Richland Center, died Thursday, February 9, 2012 at his home. He was born November 16, 1944 the son of Paul and Ruby (Davis) Steinmetz at his grandparents farm in Union Township, Vernon County near Valley. Jerry married Linda Riddle in Tomah on August 1, 1964. After graduating from UW Platteville he worked as a hog buyer for Wilson Foods in Monmouth, IL. In 1979 he returned to Wisconsin and farmed in the Wonewoc and Yuba areas. In 1986 he started working for Wisconsin Dairies in Richland Center. He retired as a Production Supervisor at Foremost Farms in February 2010. Jerry enjoyed camping, fishing, the Green Bay Packers, and the Wisconsin Badgers.

Jerry is survived by his wife Linda, children, Michelle Steinmetz of Waupaca, Kayla (Scott) Gilbeck of Spring Green, Darin (Kara) Steinmetz of Richland Center, grandchildren, Brandon and Ashley Gilbeck, Erica, Tyler and Hallie Steinmetz, brother, Ron (Rosie) Steinmetz of Richland Center, sister Bonnie (Ken) Moerer of Richland Center, brothers-in-law, Richard (Barb) Riddle of Tomah, Don (Kathy) Riddle of Delavan, sister-in-law, Lea Koch (Chuck Melvin) of Madison, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, and grandparents.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 1:30 PM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel with Pastor Randy Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Richland Center Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Sunday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at 1:30 PM. The family suggests memorials be given to GRACE, Park Street Christian Church, the Richland Center Fire Department, or a charity of your choice. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service of Richland Center is assisting the family with their arrangements. Online condolences can be made at prattfuneralservice.com.
